A total of 118 chess players from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran and Georgia took part in the two-day tournament, Offsideplus.az reports.

The winner of the men's competition was Kenan Garayev, who scored 7 points. In women's wrestling, Shams Farzali won.

The winners of the struggle for the lower age groups in the Victory Cup have also been determined.

Ulvu Mammadov, originally from the village of Alekseyevka in the Guba region, joined the exercises a week before the war. He took part in the battles for the freedom of Fizuli, Jabrayil and Khojavend regions. Mammadov died heroically during the fierce fighting in Khojavend region on October 21 and rose to the peak of martyrdom. By the orders of President Ilham Aliyev, he was posthumously awarded the medals "For the Motherland" and "For the Liberation of Jabrayil."

The International Victory Cup is organized by the Baku Youth and Sports Head Office, Guba Youth and Sports Department, the Azerbaijan Federation of Sports Journalists, with the support of the Azerbaijan Chess Federation.
