Offsideplus.az reports that Yashar Bashirov of the National Karate Federation said:
"Unfortunately, the competition will not take place in Azerbaijan. According to the decision of the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers, the sports competition was not allowed to be held indoors. Therefore, on Saturday I contacted the President of the World Karate Federation (WKF) Antonio Espinos and shared my thoughts. He also told me that we had sent a letter from the state in this regard and that we had been informed two months before the competition, so there was no problem. Now I have to submit a letter from the Ministry of Youth and Sports to the WKF so that they can officially announce that this competition will not take place in Baku.
It should be noted that the competition, which gave license points to the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, was to be held in the Baku Crystal Hall. Before the competition, on March 7-11, karate judges would take an exam in one of the hotels in Baku.
Earlier, the trampoline gymnastics and tumbling World Cup, which was to be held on February 13-14 at the National Gymnastics Arena, was canceled due to a pandemic.
