The statement came from Shafag Huseynli, director of the Azerbaijan National Anti-Doping Agency (AMADA), Offsideplus.az reports.

He said that no athlete in Azerbaijan had been infected with the coronavirus.

"We have information about athletes infected with the virus in the world. But no such fact has been found among the athletes in our test group and tested."

The director of AMADA said that they conducted doping tests in the country until the movement was restricted:

"The quarantine regime has been applied in various stages. In accordance with the previous characteristics of this regime and the requirements of the special rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency during the pandemic, doping control tests were carried out in the country to restrict movement."

Huseynli said that it is impossible to collect samples from athletes infected with the coronavirus:

"According to the requirements of the World Anti-Doping Agency, if any athlete is infected with the coronavirus after a doping test, the members of the sampling team in contact with the athlete should be identified and appropriate measures should be taken and the laboratory informed about the athlete's sample code.

Earlier, Azerbaijani referee Isa Mammadov, who refereed amateur league matches in Turkey, was diagnosed with a coronavirus.
