These are the words  Hojjat Hagverdi, referring to the transfer of the club.

The 28-year-old footballer also said that the proximity of the distance between Iran and Azerbaijan influenced his choice of Sumgayit. Hagverdi said it would allow him and his family to travel more easily.

The 28-year-old defender explained the reason for the recent influx of Iranian footballers into the Azerbaijani Premier League: "I think this is due to the good performance of our players in the Azerbaijani championship in recent years. "The transfer of my teammate Sharifi to Peykan was also decisive. Ali Gurbani also plays here. It is very good for all of us to have three Iranian players in Sumgayit now. It will help me in my first international experience."

Hagverdi said he did not know about Azerbaijani football before coming to Sumgayit. "Like all Iranians, I did not know anything about the Eastern European championship. But I was surprised to see the sports facilities, style of play and conditions of clubs here. They have a high level of equipment compared to Iran. "Our team has a special camp and three training grounds. The players know how important these factors are. We trained in a field similar to the field in Iran. The situation is completely different here. I can use Sumgayit as a springboard to move to a better team."
