The opening ceremony of the "Mingachevir Regatta-2024" international tournament in academic rowing, kayaking and canoeing "Mingachevir Regatta-2024" was held in Fuzuli.

 Offsideplus.az reports that the event took place in the Lower Kondalanchay reservoir.

 Youth and Sports Minister Farid Gayibov, National Olympic Committee Vice-President Chingiz Huseynzade, General Secretary Azer Aliyev, Azerbaijan Canoe and Rowing Federation (AKAF) President Vugar Ahmadov and other officials took part in the event.

 First, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played. After that, the memory of the martyrs was commemorated with a minute of silence.

 Emin Huseynov, the special representative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Agdam, Fuzuli and Khojavend regions, thanked the organizers of the event:

"It is a historic and significant day. The city day of Fuzuli is being celebrated for the second time. The organization of the international tournament here for the first time adds color to it. Fuzuli was liberated from occupation four years ago. Our people returned to their land."

 Declaring the competition open, Farid Gayibov greeted the guests and wished success to the participants: "Welcome to Karabagh, Fuzuli".

 It should be noted that four years have passed since the liberation of Fuzuli from occupation. The regatta will end on October 18.
