The Grand Slam judo tournament will start on February 19 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

According to, 422 athletes from 60 countries took part in the competition. The first opponents of the tournament, which will be attended by 15 members of the Azerbaijani national team, have been announced.

Karamat Huseynov, who will compete in the weight category of 60 kg, will face Ashley Mackenzie (England), Davud Mammadsoy will face Mortis Plafk from Germany. In the 66 kg weight category, Orkhan Safarov will compete with Amit Bobovich (Israel) and Nijat Shikhalizade with Petr Zhukov (Romania). Telman Valiyev's (73 kg) opponent will be Likas Reiter (Austria).

In the weight category of 81 kg, Zelim Tskayev will face Ben Haroch (Israel), Hidayat Heydarov will face Marcel Cherchea (Romania). 

Mammadali Mehdiyev's first opponent (90 kg) was Frenchman Aurel Diss. Elmar Gasimov (100 kg) will face Joachim Dvarbi (Sweden), Zelim Kotsoyev (Boris Georgiev) (Bulgaria), Ushangi Kokauri Ben Spikers (Netherlands) + Jamal Feyziyev (Israel) and Serafim Kompanyes (Israel).

In the women's 48 kg competition, both of our athletes will face an Israeli judoka. Leyla Aliyeva's opponent will be Shira Rishon, and Aisha Gurbanli's opponent will be Tamar Soriano. Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (52 kg) will face Brazilian Valentim Eleudis.

Karamat Huseynov, Davud Mammadsoy, Nijat Shikhalizade, Orkhan Safarov, Leyla Aliyeva, Aisha Gurbanli and Gultaj Mammadaliyeva (52 kg) will join the fight tomorrow. The next day Telman Valiyev, Hidayat Heydarov, Zelim Tskayev, and on the third day Mammadali Mehdiyev, Zelim Kotsoyev, Elmar Gasimov, Ushangi Kokauri and Jamal Feyziyev will test their strength.

It should be noted that the competition will end on February 20.
