The video conference, chaired by the World Karate Federation (WKF) and EKF President Antonio Espinos, was attended by members of the Executive Committee of the continental organization, including AMKF President Yashar Bashirov, Judges' Committee and officials of the Organization's Committee. Due to the widespread pandemic in European countries, federation officials also commented on the holding of continental championships in the first half of 2021.
The European Junior and Youth Championships, scheduled for February 2021 in Tampere, Finland, have been postponed to August by the Executive Committee. Athletes of the same age will take part in the continental championship.
During the discussions on the European Championship with the Olympic license, scheduled for May 2021 in Gothenburg, Sweden, the officials of the host country said that there were a number of difficulties in holding the competition. In his speech, Bashirov noted that Azerbaijan is ready to hold this responsible competition.
The proposal of the president of the federation was immediately supported by officials from 10 countries. The final decision on the venue of the upcoming European Championship will be made soon.
