The U-17 European wrestling championship has started in Novi Sad, Serbia.
Offsideplus.az reports that on the first day of the competition, Greco-Roman wrestlers in 48, 55, 65, 80 and 110 kg took to the mat.
Amrah Amrahov (48 kg) defeated Pavlos Tsentidis from Greece and Andranik Khachatryan from Armenia by the same score (9:0) and advanced to the semi-finals. Amrah did not spare Santosh Sarmalingam from Sweden in the semi-finals - 6:0. Amrahov will face Russian Nikolay Kristov in the final tomorrow.
Ali Nazarov (55 kg) disappointed Alexander Aydoyev from Armenia at the start - 5:0. After that, our compatriot won the Serbian Christian Dobi with a full advantage (9:0) and entered the semi-finals. Ali lost to Bulgaria's Alyosha Iliev in one step of the finals (1:1) and will wrestle for the bronze medal tomorrow.
Isbandiyar Imanov (65 kg) eliminated Latvian Jaromirs Zhukovs prematurely (8:0), and Estonian Robi Kristyuhan (1:1) according to the principle of the last point. Imanov lost to German Kevin Karl in the 1/4 finals - 4:12.
After Orkhan Hajiyev (80 kg) defeated Vasileyos Semertzidis from Greece with full advantage (10:1), he was stronger than Dushan Stokic from Serbia in the 1/4 finals - 6:1. Hajiyev lost to Turkey's Yigit Sarı based on the principle of the last point (5:5) in the semi-finals, so he pinned his hopes on a bronze medal.
Mikayil Ismayilov (110 kg) knocked out Alexander Saramaek from Finland ahead of time (9:0). In the 1/4 finals, he won over Georgian Luka Shavadze - 4:1. Unfortunately, the national team member lost to Ukrainian Ivan Yankovsky in the semi-finals - 0:8. Mikayil will fight for the third place tomorrow.
