In the U-20 European wrestling championship held in Novi Sad, Serbia, Ruzanna Mammadova, who competed in the 59 kg weight category, won the championship, surpassing all her competitors.

A member of the team shared his impressions of the victory with Offsideplus.az:

"The race was very difficult. But at the end of every difficulty there is a victory. I am happy, I became the champion. Besides me, two teammates had chances to win bronze medals. But they did not succeed. It is true that we expected a better result from our team. Sudden mistakes resulted in them being without a medal in the end".

Mammadova said that she is already preparing for the 2028 Olympic Games:

"I believe that our female wrestlers will be able to win a license. The dream of every athlete is to participate in the Olympics. But my goal is both participation and championship. I am not going to be satisfied with this. I aim to become the European and world champion in each age group. I have achieved this among teenagers. I want to "taste" every championship. I will do everything I can to achieve my wish".
