Rauf Mammadov, a member of the Azerbaijan national chess team, commented on the fact that Vasif Durarbeyli was not invited to the national team.
Offsideplus.az reports that Durarbeyli's reaction to Mammadov's ideas was not delayed.
Grandmaster wrote the following on his Facebook profile:
"In my opinion, Rauf should have followed the path followed by other leading chess players of Azerbaijan. He would have turned a blind eye to injustice for one reason or another. I know that the injustice that happened to me is not a matter of Ukraine, so Rauf should take a firm position and then delete his page. Live on TV in 2022 He had already expressed his opinion about me. I did not see the need to express my opinion about Rauf, but because of our long-term personal relationship, I only have to pay attention to his opinion. I have to prove something to someone every time no".
Referring to Vasif Rauf's opinion, "I should have been invited to the national team due to the rating in 2011. But they didn't invite me. I didn't complain."
"Rauf's idea of being expelled from the team in 2011 does not fully describe the truth. The captain of the national team that year was the famous chess expert Vladimir Tukmakov. And he has his own approach to coaching the national team. He believed that the selection of the team should be at the discretion of the captain, not just based on the rating. You can read about it in his book "Coaching the Chess Stars". Tukmakov wrote that he was replaced by Rauf Mammadov in the 2011 World Team Championship It is normal for a strong specialist to be removed from the team after Tukmakov's departure. There were exceptions in 2019 and 2024 I also want to remind Rauf that before the European team championship in 2011, we stayed in the same room at the Corsica tournament. Then he was depressed because of the exclusion of the specialist from the team. Now, in my pure opinion, I would have expected him to be more empathetic to my situation after my expulsion."
